Oberkramer takes part in Topless 100 weekend at Batesville
Three consecutive days of racing at Batesville Motor Speedway (Locust Grove, Arkansas) were on tap for Mason Oberkarmer and his Premier Flatwork No. 93 Dirt Late Model over the weekend.
The competition commenced on Thursday as the COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) completed the Hillbilly 40 after rain postponed the 34-car event in late July. When the rains came, Oberkramer was set to start on the front row in his B-Main on the 3/8-mile oval. He went on to take the checkered flag in the “B” on Thursday evening and start the 40-lap, $5,000-to-win feature from the 17th position. However, he ran into trouble during the race and finished 23rd.
The action only intensified on Friday, as Oberkramer was one of 64 drivers participating in the preliminary night the 31st annual COMP Cams Topless 100 co-sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) and the CCSDS.
Oberkramer finished sixth in his heat race and fourth in his B-Main, narrowly missing a transfer spot to the 30-lap, $5,000-to-win preliminary feature.
The following evening, 64 Late Model entries again packed the pit area for the finale night of one of the crown jewels on the LOLMDS calendar. Two B-Mains filled out the remainder of the starting lineup for the night’s 100-lap, $50,000-to-win main event. Oberkramer finished 10th in his 15-lap race, meaning he was unable to transfer to this year’s Topless 100.
